Brut 2014

Rated 92 Pts By Wine Enthusiast

Lytle-Barnett vintage Brut is our flagship wine, this bottling is the centerpiece of our lineup and our true “calling card” in introducing people to quality vintage Oregon sparkling.

How it’s Made:

The Lytle-Barnett Brut is produced in the vintage méthode champenoise tradition. The grapes are hand-picked in the Willamette Valley then gently pressed as whole clusters in a pneumatic press. The pinot noir and chardonnay cuveés are fermented separately in stainless steel tanks and oak barrels to simultaneously preserve acidity and impart richness. We bottle in early summer and leave it to age for a minimum of 3 years sur latte (on their sides). After three years aging, at the time of disgorgement we add a very minimal dosage of 2-3 grams per liter of sugar creating a very dry sparkling, on the nature end of the Brut style. The wine then rests for another 3 months before release.

Tasting Notes:

Delicate aromas of lemon peel, sandalwood and fresh baked bread, underscored by subtle notes of baking spice. These nuanced aromatics translate directly to the palate and meld with opulent flavors of lemon custard, white flower and delicate wild red fruits. The ethereal quality of the bubbles, coupled with mouthwatering acidity, lift and bring finesse to the wine’s innate complexity.
