Winery Reflections Review: 2019 Estate Pinot Noir

"A captivatingly deep and mysterious fruit profile layered with wild blackberry, dark cherry, black currant, and blueberry skin highlights a lifted and incredibly expressive presentation that is effortlessly enhanced by dense floral tones of crushed lavender, iris, and violet. Notes of pine cone, forest floor, tree bark, and Morel mushroom provide layer after layer of riveting natural character that is pleasantly juxtaposed against pretty barrel spices of cinnamon, coriander, and vanilla. Hints of coffee grounds and black tea gently contribute lightly roasted qualities while impressions of iron, loam, and tilled soil expose tasteful underlying earthiness. Exceptionally expansive and aromatic on the nose while possessing an absolutely striking combination of weightless concentration, delicate power, and effortless depth on the palate; exhibiting a seemingly rich and assertive yet still soft and balanced presentation that combines modern ripeness with Burgundian cohesiveness and finesse. Medium-plus bodied with moderate silky tannin cut by bright acidity. This 2019 Anahata Vineyard Pinot Noir by Aubaine Wine is a robust yet supple red from Oregon's Eola-Amity Hills. 

Long lauded for its similarities to the famed French wine region of Burgundy, the Willamette Valley has produced some of the most complex and captivating Pinot on earth and yet its wines somehow still manage to get better with every new vintage. This bottling, crafted by Aubaine Wine using Pinot Noir sourced from the Anahata Vineyard in the Willamette Valley's Eola-Amity Hills, brilliantly reflects the unique combination of nuance and depth that this scenic stretch of Oregon is capable of shaping. This booms with an expressive core of primarily dark fruits bolstered by complex forest tones, deep florals, balanced oak influence, and enticing earthiness. Although drinking wonderfully today this will likely require another 3-5 years to reach its peak, yet will surely continue to drink well for a decade or more. Outstanding. "
